This is a physician-formulated program that utilizes products in strengths not available over the counter. Our program consists of two parts: The first part is an intense 6 week treatment regimen that restores your skin to a more youthful appearance and helps reverse sun damage. This is accomplished using daily applications of Retin-A and bleaching cream. The second part of our program is designed to maintain the improvements gained in the initial phase. Our Essential Skin Care System is complete and provides all cleansers, toners, moisturizers, and exfoliators needed. This system is easy to use and will maximize the beauty and health of your skin. Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy - NEW! This treatment can be used for acne, sun damage and precancerous skin lesions. Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy is a light treatment that can be used with a topical photosynthesizing agent called Levulan (aminolevulinic acid or ALA). This therapy is used to treat precancerous skin lesions called actinic keratosis, sun damage, pigmentation and fine lines. It will also reduce the oil glands and minimize the appearance of pores. The blue light can also be used to treat acne by killing the acne-causing bacteria in your skin. This will decrease, or in some cases, even eliminate breakouts. Please call the skin care center for more information on this new treatment modality. Microdermabrasion Microdermabrasion is a technique of aggressive mechanical exfoliation. This process uses a fine spray of specially designed crystals to remove the most superficial layer of the skin. This will immediately create a much softer and smoother skin surface with no down time. Serial treatments have been shown to be effective in decreasing the appearance of fine lines and acne scarring. Your results can be significantly enhanced by combining microdermabrasion with a skin care regimen and/or IPL treatments. Lite Chemical Peels These are selected according to skin type and condition being treated. There is no recovery time, and patients return to their normal color by the next day. Some patients experience a slight amount of flaking two days after the chemical is applied, and this usually lasts about 2-3 days. These treatments will help reduce the depth fo surface lines, smooth out rough skin texture, help fade brown spots, and assist in clearing acne/blemished skin. Skin Medica Precision Peel This peel is a unique blend of retinoic acid, alpha-hydroxy acids, and resorcinol to create one of the safest, strongest, superfical medical peels available. This treatment provides more dramatic results than the Lite Peels, but some recovery time is involved. Patients have extensive peeling within 48 hours with redness that lasts for 1-2 days. Hair Removal Laser Permanent hair removal is now possible for all skin types. Upstate Skin Care Center and Spa now has the Light Sheer diode laser which can treat numerous dark hair follicles simultaneously. This laser provides more reliable results and has less discomfort than other hair removal methods. It also has a special contact-cooling handpiece that protects and cools the skin during your treatment. During your initial consultation our nurse will determine your skin type and evaluate the desired hair to be treated. Laser Facial The Intense Pulsed Light Laser (IPL) corrects a variety of benign skin conditions, such as, facial skin imperfections, birthmarks, brown spots, and unsightly small veins.
